At its meeting today, Civic San Diego will consider a proposal to develop a 40-story mixed-use project in Downtown San Diego’s East Village neighborhood.
The project called Park & Broadway, would consist of 640 dwelling units, 638 subterranean and above-ground parking spaces, and 16,848 square feet of commercial space. It would span the entire block that is bounded by Park Boulevard, 13th Street, Broadway and C Street.
Architecture firm CallisonRTKL is designing three buildings – a tower at the southwest corner of the parcel and two podiums at the northwest and northeast corners of the parcel.

Plans show that the project will feature many unique elements including a narrowing floor plate from the north to south of the tower, and an outdoor sky lounge and sky deck at the top of the tower.
At the street level, there will be a paseo that provides public open space transecting the no-build fault line zone on the parcel. The paseo will make use of its 15’ grade change by featuring a grand staircase leading to an amphitheater-like space. It will also feature raised outdoor dining terraces and space for public community events.
According to the CivicSD staff report, it is estimated that the project will generate approximately 676 construction jobs and 84 permanent jobs. The developer Liberty National Corp. will pay an estimated Inclusionary Housing Fee of $5,317,193.
Not bad looking…can’t stop progress.
