The owner of the Brea Plaza Shopping Center is planning to redevelop the Center’s existing movie theater, Buca di Beppo restaurant, and a surface parking lot with multifamily housing and hospitality uses.

The proposed Brea Plaza Hotel and Apartments Expansion project will be located on-site of the existing Shopping Center at 1639 East Imperial Highway and result in the construction of a large L-shaped building.

The structure planned by BOSC Realty Advisors will accommodate 150 hotel rooms, 194 residential units, and 198 additional parking spaces. New office space is also planned for totaling 17,863 square feet and 5,019 square feet of new restaurant space will also be included.

The expansion would result in a 3,068 square-foot reduction in commercial space, and an increase of 198 total parking spaces over existing parking conditions.

The City of Brea recently released a Notice of Preparation and Scoping Meeting for the project’s draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) with a public review period lasting from Monday, July 27, 2020, to Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

The City also plans for an August 12th Scoping Meeting which will allow the City to present the EIR process, and provide an opportunity for agency representatives and the public to determine the scope and content of the environmental analysis for the planned EIR.

The proposed project will require a General Plan Amendment (GPA) and Zone Change. The developer has also requested a development agreement with the City.
