Last week, the Glendale City Council approved the design review for a proposed 137-room Indigo brand hotel.
The hotel project by VK Group will be located at 515-523 N. Central Avenue within Glendale’s Downtown Specific Plan Transitional District. The hotel would be seven stories and include amenities such as a second-floor pool and deck area, meeting rooms and lounge areas.
The project will provide 120 parking spaces within a three-level underground garage, a publicly-accessible courtyard along Central Avenue and a restaurant on the ground level.
Per the City’s Community Benefit Incentive Program, the applicant is requesting an increase to the permitted area height from 65’ to 95’, and an increase to the floor-to-area ratio from 2.00 to 3.00.

The proposed site is 23,309 square feet and currently developed with a general office building and a fast-food restaurant. After required setbacks and dedications, the total lot size would be 20,810 square feet.
Designed by Togawa Smith Martin, the hotel will have a contemporary architectural style with the building facades primarily clad with a brick veneer and a precast concrete base.
The area surrounding the project has multi-family residential uses to the west, and high-density residential and mixed-use developments, as well as general medical and office uses, along Central Avenue.
The City Council approved the Stage I Design Review in January. Now with the Stage II Design approved, the schematic and design development phase of the project is completed.
