On May 20, the Oceanside Community Development Commission approved a proposal for a five-story mixed-use development called Alta Oceanside consisting of 309 apartment units, 5,422 square feet of commercial space and a five-story parking structure with 503 parking spaces.

To fulfill its density bonus obligation, the developer Wood Partners will include 26 affordable housing units so that it can exceed the area maximum density of 43 dwelling units per acre. The project’s density will be 58.2 dwelling units per acre.

Architects Orange will be designing a California coastal contemporary building with onsite amenities including courtyards, a roof-deck, patios and balconies for each of the apartment units, a library, a yoga/fitness room, and a clubhouse.

The development will be located at 939 North Coast Highway within the Townsite Neighborhood Planning Area. The project constitutes a transit-oriented development (TOD) mixed-use project that is intended to revitalize the north side of Oceanside’s Downtown.

And thus the gentrification of our beloved Oceanside continues as an architectural rendering of an Irvine industrial building graces our community.

What’s affordable? In whos eyes?
We have so many apartments now!!! Our town is crowded enough with no space to park as it is? Is 503 parking spots enough for the tenants: with 2 cars? Probably not which means crowded cars on the streets.
