Today, The City of Placentia Planning Commission will consider a proposal to develop a 64-unit affordable senior apartment complex located at the Northeast corner of North Angelina Drive and Morse Avenue.
The project, proposed by National CORE, would consist of two, two-story residential buildings with 64 housing units affordable to households that earn less than 60% of the Area Median Income. There would also be one manager’s unit. Building 1 would consist of 28 one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units. Building 2 would have 31 one-bedroom units, 2 two-bedroom units, and a junior one-bedroom unit for the onsite manager.

The 3.85-acre project site currently contains a parish hall, which would be demolished and replaced with a new parish hall of approximately 3,974 square feet (SF) in size. The project would add 45 new parking spaces to the site for a total of 130 parking spaces.
Additional features of the project would include a children’s picnic area, a courtyard gathering space, a gathering lawn with benches, an outdoor terrace, and a memorial garden.

The project site is surrounded by detached single-family homes to the north and east, and south across Morse Avenue, commercial land uses including a post office, a dentist office, and a bridal store to the west across North Angelina Drive.
The buildings designed by RRM Design Group would have a traditional “Craftsman” architectural style, which will be compatible with the surrounding homes and the parish. Each building will feature low pitched roof lines, gabled or hipped roofs, and deeply overhanging eaves with exposed rafters. The color palette of the buildings will be earthy.
