Earlier this month, the City of Twentynine Palms released an environmental assessment document for a proposed hotel development that will be using prefabricated steel-framed modular construction on vacant land consisting of 9.36 acres.

The “shipping container” hotel proposed by Wander Hotel JT, LLC will be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 will include a total of 65 rooms and 65 parking spaces and a laundry/break room, a “check-in” office to welcome guests, a gift shop, open-air cabanas to provide shade, an in-ground swimming pool, as well as the sewage treatment facility. Phase 2 will build up to 28 additional rooms and 34 parking spaces.

All structures will be built with 40-foot metal shipping containers; the clubhouse will also include a 20-feet container as a pass-through gate. A pool is proposed south of the clubhouse. Each hotel room is proposed with its own private patio with a fire pit and picnic/sitting furniture.

This project has been tentatively set for a public hearing before the Planning Commission on November 2, 2021.

RAD LAB Designs will be designing the proposed hotel.
