Last week, the Murrieta Planning Commission approved a proposed Hotel development located on the west side of Monroe Avenue and north of Fig Street.

The developer, Smith Kading Investment, proposed a 9-story hotel and resort, that will consist of 257 rooms plus a basement, totaling approximately 209,820 square feet. The amenities of the hotel are planned to include a lobby bar, a lobby restaurant with outdoor dining, lobby grab and go coffee/snack bar, a 7,800 SF ballroom, 2,000 SF of break out rooms, and a 9th floor bar/lounge with an exterior patio.

The building’s second level would include an outdoor rooftop venue for events associated with the ballrooms below. The hotel is also planning for a resort-style recreation area that will include a pool, spa, and water zone for children. The recreation area will also include food and drink services.

314 on-site parking spaces are proposed for the development, including 11 ADA spaces. Further, the developer is proposing 419 valet parking spaces at a separate site.

Keisker & Wiggle Architects is designing the hotel as a single tower in an L-shaped design. The form of the building will utilize varying depths in the façade and stair-stepping massing. The building’s color scheme will be earth-toned to give it a natural aesthetic. The 9th story hotel lounge may be the defining architectural feature of the building; it will have clear-story windows and an aggressive flat roof that projects outward from the tower. The overall site proposes 25.1% total landscape area. Building lot coverage is proposed at 17.1%.

The Project is anticipated to be developed in a single phase. Any change to the Project phasing will require the City’s approval. The applicant anticipates employing 57 persons at the hotel during peak times.
