Earlier last week, the Long Beach Planning Commission voted in support of a proposed mixed-use project, rejecting an appeal from local residents.
Previously, the Site Plan Review Committee had approved the proposed project.
The applicant, Topanga Partners, plans to demolish current on-site structures and construct a seven-story mixed-use building containing 48 dwelling units, 5,090 square feet of ground-level commercial uses at 525 East Broadway.

The apartment complex will consist of 10 one-bedrooms, 37 two-bedrooms, and 1 three-bedroom. Each unit would include a dishwasher, private parking, and washer-dryer sets.
The parking areas would be located in three levels: subterranean, at-grade, and above-grade. The Project provides 60 parking spaces, which includes one parking space per unit (48 spaces) and guest parking at a rate of one space per four dwelling units (12 spaces). The proposed 5,090 square feet of ground-level commercial uses is exempt from parking because the size of the tenant space is less than 6,000 square feet.
Local architect Daryoush Safai is designing the proposed project.
