Last month, the City of San Diego released a draft environmental analysis on a proposed 90-unit apartment building located near the San Diego State University (SDSU) campus.

The College View Apartments, proposed by Pierce Education Properties, would be located on a 2.39-acre site on the northwestern side of campus within the College Area Community Plan. An existing building, pool and surface parking lot currently occupy the project site, which would be demolished to make way for the new apartments. The new building would be six-stories high, and 175,667 square-foot (SF) in area. The building would also contain a subterranean parking garage.

The Draft Mitigated Negative Declaration found that the project, as currently proposed, would result in significant environmental impacts in the area of biological resources and land use.

Per the proposal, Pierce is requesting a neighborhood development permit for deviations for building height, front setback, and private open space regulations. The applicant is also requesting a site development permit for environmentally sensitive lands.

KTGY Architecture is designing the project.

The public comment period on the draft environmental analysis is open until March 22, 2021.
